Maternity | Interview with Beka Price Photography | Salt Lake, UT Maternity Photographer

I’m so pleased to introduce to you this lady’s amazing work based out of Utah, USA! Beka Price Photography <3

Q: When did you start specializing in maternity and newborn work?

A:  About 3 years ago, in 2014 when I realized I couldn’t do it all, but I always knew I couldn’t not do maternity and babies. I am super passionate about everything related to pregnancy, and naturally this had to be part of my photography.

Q: What do you love about being a maternity photographer

A:  To be part of such a special moment in people’s life. Everyone experience pregnancy in different ways, and because it goes by too fast, everyone should have that time captured so they can cherish forever, AND their posterity can have registry of where they came from.

Q:  Are you natural light, studio light or both?

A:  Both. When I am soothing outdoors sessions, I always use available natural light. When shooting in the studio, I go for studio lights. I love the consistency!

Q: How long does it take you to edit your maternity sessions?

A:  I try to get my image ready in camera as much as possible, so my editing time is cut to a minimal. I also soft proof, so I only edit images that my clients will purchase. It usually takes me an hour to complete a whole session

Q: How do you prep the expecting mama’s for their maternity session?

A:  I meet with all clients at the studio for what I call  “session planning”. We go over all details so mama feels confident of what we are going to do, and so that on the day of she is not worried about anything except showing up for her session. I tell them to wear comfortable shoes, have their makeup and hair done, mani and pedi are also nice. If they can, take the day off so they get to enjoy it and be more relaxed for their session. I take care of everything else.

Q: What camera and lens do you shoot with

A:  Canon 5D mark iii, Canon 85mm 1.8 and Canon 135mm 2.0. In studio I use my Sigma 35mm 1.4 ART.

Q:  Would you have your own maternity session photographed if you were expecting? and if you were, who with?

A:  Absolutely! Hands down, Alli Peck with Glow Portraits. I’d either fly her to come meet me or I would fly to her.

Q:  Describe your maternity photography style

A:  I like to think my style is light and airy, with an editorial approach. I shoot having in mind one day my images will be published on a magazine 🙂
